The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore has announced a ban on heavy vehicles during daytime hours on Raiwind Road to reduce accidents and improve traffic.
According to the CTO, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Raiwind Road from Thokar Niaz Baig between 7 AM and 11 PM. During this period, heavy traffic will be diverted towards Sundar Road, Manga Mandi, and Multan Road to ease congestion on the main routes and lower the risk of accidents.
The restriction will also apply to vehicles entering Raiwind Road from Kahna Kacha towards Defence Road.
To ensure smooth implementation, additional police personnel have been deployed on Raiwind Road under the supervision of divisional SPs and circle officers. Forklifts and other vehicles with heavy machinery have also been mobilized to eliminate wrong parking and maintain traffic discipline.
The CTO stated that these measures are aimed at protecting lives and property, and are expected to bring a noticeable decline in traffic accidents.
Furthermore, during night hours, heavy vehicles without a valid fitness certificate will not be allowed into the city to keep unsafe vehicles off the roads.
