The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public warning that all unregistered mobile devices will be blocked from local networks. Citizens have been advised to register their phones through the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) to maintain uninterrupted service.
According to PTA, unregistered mobile phones pose a risk to national security and may be misused in financial and cyber fraud. The authority stressed that possession, sale, or use of such devices is illegal under existing regulations and falls under a punishable offence.
PTA urged the public to refrain from buying or selling unregistered phones, highlighting that these devices are not recognized in the official system and therefore cannot be lawfully operated. Consumers were warned that continuing to use unregistered handsets could result in service suspension and legal action.
The authority cautioned that users have a limited time to comply. To avoid disruption, citizens are encouraged to check the status of their devices on the DIRBS portal and complete registration where required.

To register mobile phone in Pakistan you need to pay 10000 rupees tax on a phone that cost 50000 rupees.

Reduce the tax to something like 10-15 k for any iphone and people will happily register all their phones and you will get taxes also but 1.5 lakh tax on a smart phone just to run a sim is totally absurd, People can buy a 30-40 k phone and use it as a hot spot easily. Reduce the tax to 10-15 k range everyone will register.
Government must put tax on manufacturing company and not on all clients buying and selling a products, on one product get multiple times tax, so Government need to reform tax system and reduce taxes so anyone can do easily a d happily.
My 14pro phone was snatched 2 years back for i have paid 138k PTA tax, do have valid document (FIR) then what favor as far as in this context PTA will give to the consumer if he purchase the new phone again…obviously TAX…Wrong policy what else consumer can done

The price of my mobile phone is 70,000, yet PTA is demanding 48,000 as tax. Why? 😭
I paid 48,000 tax to make it run, then I can to know it is Carrier ATnT locked. Now PTA is not refunding this money.

PTA should revise tax bracket on older model phone. Like iPhone 5 still attracts Rs.40,000-50,000 tax while it is now 8-10 years old. Similar is the case with other manufacturers phones.

لوگ مجبوراً غیر رجسٹرڈ فون استعمال کر رہے ہیں کیونکہ فونز پر ٹیکس بہت زیادہ ہے ایک فون پر ایک لاکھ سے زیادہ ٹیکس لینا کہاں کا انصاف ہے لیکن یہاں تو ٹیکسز پر پوری ادارے چلتے ہیں ایک طریقہ کار کے تحت اگر ٹیکس وصول کی جائے تو پھر کوئی بھی غیر رجسٹرڈ فون استعمال نہیں کریگا مثلاً بڑے فونز پر دس ہزار ٹیکس اور چھوٹے ماڈل فون پر پانچ ہزار ٹیکس اور کیپیڈ والے فونز پر پانچ سو ٹیکس وصول کی جائے تو ادارے کو بھی خاصی ٹیکس ملے گی اور خاص کر ملک کی سلامتی کے لیے مفید ثابت ہوگی
