Schools Closed in a Major City in Punjab Due to Floods

The Deputy Commissioner of Sialkot, Saba Asghar Ali, has ordered the closure of 26 government schools for two days, September 11 and 12, due to widespread flooding and safety concerns. Four schools in Daska, six in Sialkot, six in Pasrur, and eight in Sambrial have been affected. The closure applies only to students, while teaching staff are required to attend.

Heavy rains and floodwaters have impacted numerous school buildings and access routes, posing structural hazards and travel risks to students. DC Sialkot emphasized that the decision was made to protect students from these dangers while restoration efforts take place.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the decision was made in consideration of the safety of students and the broader emergency resulting from the recent monsoon rains and floods in the district.
