The federal government has approved fresh recruitment in Pakistan Railways, with more than 1,000 positions set to be filled across different posts.
According to a report in a leading national daily, the hiring process will cover three categories of staff. Among them, 81 Assistant Sub-Inspectors will be appointed, for which an Intermediate qualification is required. Out of these, 69 seats are allocated for men, eight for women, while four positions have been reserved under the minority quota.
In addition, 914 constables will also be recruited. This includes 789 male candidates, 89 female candidates, and 39 posts reserved for minorities. The required qualification for constable applicants has been set at Matriculation with at least a C grade.
In other news, Pakistan Railways has unveiled new reforms to enhance passenger safety and comfort, with special measures for women and differently-abled travelers. The initiative includes gender-sensitive protocols, awareness campaigns, staff training, and improved facilities such as designated seating and wheelchairs at major stations.
