Pakistan Railways Unveils New Reforms for Women and Special Persons

Pakistan Railways has announced a series of reforms aimed at improving facilities and ensuring safer travel for passengers, with a special focus on women and persons with disabilities. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.

The minister announced that gender-sensitive protocols will soon be implemented at railway stations and on trains to ensure women passengers have a safe, respectful, and comfortable travel environment.

To implement these measures, awareness posters will be displayed at stations and on trains, while regular announcements and awareness messages will be broadcast. In addition, railway employees will undergo gender-sensitization and specialized training, supported by a broader awareness campaign highlighting women’s safety.

The meeting also approved new facilities for differently-abled passengers. All refurbished trains will have dedicated seating for persons with special needs, and wheelchairs will be provided at major stations to make their travel easier and more dignified.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Abbasi said that Pakistan Railways values all its passengers and these initiatives reflect the organization’s commitment to building a modern, inclusive, and passenger-friendly railway system.
