PTA Chairman Returns to Office

The Islamabad High Court’s division bench has suspended the decision of the single bench, meaning the recently ousted PTA Chairman, Major General (Retired) Hafeez ur Rehman, has now been reinstated.

On the request of PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, a two-member bench comprising Justice Asif and Justice Inaam Amin Minhas has suspended the decision of Justice Babar Sattar’s court.

After his removal, the PTA Chairman took the matter to the Islamabad High Court, arguing that his dismissal had been unlawful. Through his petition, he urged the court to strike down the decision and declare it void.

Legal experts later described the case as highly significant, noting that it dealt not only with the constitutional status of the PTA Chairman but also with broader questions of governance and the administrative structure of Pakistan’s telecommunications sector.
