The Punjab government has expanded the use of driving simulators across the province as part of efforts to modernize driver training and improve road safety.
According to Punjab DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir, simulators have now been installed in driving schools across 20 districts during the current month, bringing the total to 28 districts where the modern equipment is operational.
Last month, only eight districts had access to simulators. He added that by the end of this month, driving schools in the remaining 10 districts will also be equipped.
In the first phase, simulators were installed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad. Later, the program was extended to Gujranwala, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, and Gujrat, among other districts.
The DIG said the initiative, launched under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for a “safe and modern Punjab,” aims to move away from conventional training methods and introduce advanced tools to produce confident and skilled drivers.
Training is conducted in two stages: initial practice on simulators followed by on-road sessions. Officials said this method helps students gain confidence behind the wheel and ensures safer driving practices once they begin using public roads.
