Pakistan’s beach handball contingent continued to make waves as the undisputed powerhouse at the inaugural Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship, booking their place in the semi-finals with a flawless record.
On Saturday, the Green Shirts delivered another dose of dominance, first dismantling South Africa and then thrashing Bangladesh, to finish the league stage unbeaten. The victories not only cemented Pakistan’s position at the top of the table but also sent a clear message to the rest of the competition: the title favorites are living up to the hype.
In the afternoon showdown, Pakistan outclassed South Africa in straight sets (2–0), combining brute strength with clinical execution. Star player Kashif Ali was in sensational form, racking up 18 points and earning the Player of the Match accolade. Pakistan took the first half 24–15 before unleashing a second-half blitz, crushing the South Africans 28–5.
Later in the day, Pakistan carried their momentum into the clash against Bangladesh, delivering another 2–0 victory. Muhammad Shahid Bashir, one of the tournament’s standout performers, led the charge with a commanding display that earned him Player of the Match honors.
Ahmad Hassan Baig chipped in with 12 points, while Hazrat Hussain added four, as Pakistan raced to a 30–9 lead in the first half and closed out the second 32–13, sealing a thumping 62–22 win.
With earlier wins over India, Sri Lanka, and hosts Maldives, Pakistan wrapped up the league stage with a perfect 5–0 record. Their dominance has made them the team to beat heading into the knockout rounds.
Pakistan will take on Bangladesh again in the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship today, with the nation eager to see its heroes lift the championship trophy.
