Faisalabad to Get Nine-Storey Parking Plaza and New Food Street

City authorities have approved two major development projects aimed at addressing long-standing urban challenges and improving public facilities.

In a meeting chaired by Commissioner Raja Jehangir Anwar on Monday, officials decided to construct a modern nine-storey parking plaza at the Old Mayor House site near Chiniot Bazaar. Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir briefed the meeting that the facility will cover 493,000 square feet.

The basement and lower ground floor will be dedicated to motorcycle parking, while the lower ground, ground, and first floors will feature a commercial market with 215 shops. Car parking will be provided across the upper five floors, and a rooftop food court will be developed to enhance the project’s utility.

The initiative, being jointly undertaken by the district council and municipal corporation, is expected to ease chronic parking problems around the city’s eight major bazaars near the Clock Tower.

The meeting also approved the creation of a food street at Old Lady Park to offer quality food, promote traditional cuisine, and provide a vibrant social space for residents and visitors.
