The teardown shows that the iPhone Air is relatively easy to access and repair. While it still uses pentalobe screws and features glued display and back glass panels, these elements are consistent with previous iPhone designs. Beyond these points, the phone’s internal components are smaller and more accessible, making disassembly simpler than in prior models. iFixit noted that, aside from the glued panels, the device comes apart almost like a LEGO set, allowing for easier replacement of internal parts.

Battery Innovation

An unexpected finding is that the iPhone Air uses the same battery as Apple’s new iPhone Air MagSafe Battery accessory. According to discoveries shared by Phone Repair Guru on YouTube, users can remove the battery from the $99 MagSafe charger and install it directly into the iPhone Air. This provides a relatively inexpensive alternative for battery replacement, as long as the accessory remains available and users are comfortable performing the process themselves.
