Islamabad police have extended the deadline for citizens to obtain driving licenses by one week, moving it from October 1 to October 7.
The decision was made on the special instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to provide additional convenience for the public.
According to the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), a strict crackdown will begin on October 18 against motorists and motorcyclists operating vehicles without valid licenses. Offenders will face legal action, including arrest and impoundment of vehicles.
Authorities have also clarified that individuals caught driving without a license will not be eligible to receive character certificates until they obtain one.
Officials said the new measures are aimed at ensuring road safety, improving compliance with traffic laws, and discouraging unlicensed driving across the capital.
The ITP has already expanded services at facilitation centers, including longer operating hours and mobile units, to handle the rising demand for licenses. Citizens have been urged to apply for licenses before the extended deadline to avoid penalties.
