Police have arrested a TikTok content creator, Uroosa Solangi, on charges of helping criminal gangs lure and abduct young men through honey-trap schemes in the riverine “katcha” areas.
According to Kashmore police, dacoit groups in the katcha belt initially used fake female voices over the phone to trick people into visiting their hideouts, where they were abducted and held for ransom. After this method was exposed, the gangs began offering cheap vehicles as bait before shifting to more advanced tactics.
In recent years, investigators say the gangs turned to social media, using influencers to approach and entrap victims. Solangi allegedly played a key role by pretending to show romantic interest in men from different cities, arranging in-person meetings, and then handing them over to dacoits.
Police confirmed that the TikToker has been taken into custody, with digital evidence retrieved from her mobile phone directly linking her to several abduction cases.
Investigators revealed that Solangi would first build trust with victims through video calls before convincing them to travel to the katcha area, where they were kidnapped and later ransomed.
Authorities say further investigations are underway to identify other suspects and dismantle the network operating in the region.
