Sindh Govt to Rebuild Karachi’s Damaged Roads

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed authorities to rebuild and repair Karachi’s worn-out internal roads, many of which were damaged during the recent rains.

The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the CM to review the city’s road conditions. The session was attended by Provincial Ministers Syed Nasir Shah, Saeed Ghani, and Jam Khan Shoro, along with Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, and Local Government Secretary Waseem Shamshad.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed the Mayor and the Local Government Department to complete a detailed survey of all deteriorated roads. He stressed that both the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and town administrations should prepare reconstruction schemes under the department’s supervision.

“All internal roads must be repaired or rebuilt,” Murad Ali Shah emphasized, adding that a proper drainage system must also be installed alongside the roads. “If drainage facilities are in place, rainwater will flow away easily and the roads will not get damaged,” he noted.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab informed the meeting that a survey of KMC roads is already underway, while the Local Government Minister said town administrations are also conducting similar assessments. Once completed, the findings will be compiled into schemes to be submitted for the CM’s approval.

The Chief Minister also directed the Local Government Department to enhance cleanliness efforts across Karachi to improve the city’s overall condition.
