The Excise and Taxation Department has announced that all vehicles registered in Islamabad with unpaid motor vehicle taxes face cancellation of registration if dues are not cleared by October 10.
According to officials, red notices have been issued to owners whose tax payments were pending as of June 30, 2025. Their registrations have already been suspended, and if they fail to clear the dues by the October deadline, the registrations will be permanently cancelled.
The department stated that restoration will only be possible after owners pay the outstanding amount along with heavy fines. Special counters have been established to assist taxpayers in clearing their dues.
The action is being taken under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965, and authorities have made it clear that no concession will be granted after the deadline.
Separately, Islamabad Traffic Police has announced strict enforcement of licensing rules from October 8. Drivers without a valid licence will face arrest, registration of cases, and impoundment of vehicles. The order applies equally to both government and private drivers.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Nasir Rizvi has directed officers to ensure full implementation of the crackdown, warning that both unlicensed drivers and their vehicles will be detained at police stations.
