The Supreme Court of Pakistan today marked a major step in judicial digitalization with the formal launch of the E-Office system and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) and the National Information Technology Board (NITB). The event underscored the judiciary’s ongoing shift toward modern technology-driven processes.
The MoU, signed by the Secretary of LJCP and the Chief Executive Officer of NITB, establishes a framework for the creation of an Analytical Dashboard for the Judiciary. This digital platform will consolidate judicial data, integrate information from various justice sector institutions, and include monitoring parameters of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC). It aims to provide real-time insights into case disposal, backlog management, and institutional performance, thereby strengthening evidence-based reforms and transparency.
Following the agreement, the E-Office system was officially launched at the Supreme Court. The system will automate file movement and internal office work, introducing a paperless workflow. A case management system tailored for the Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court is also under development, further aligning the judiciary with international best practices in digital governance.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi; Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja; Chairman of the National Judicial Automation Committee (NJAC), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar; and Supreme Court Judges Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shahid Waheed and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. Federal Secretary for IT and Telecommunication, Mr. Zarrar Hasham Khan, was also present, while Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi joined the proceedings virtually from Lahore.
