The Punjab government has ended the facility of free vehicle emission testing, making it mandatory for owners to pay a fixed fee for the service.
The Environment Protection Department has issued a formal notification, setting separate charges for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheel vehicles in different categories.
According to the notification, motorcycle owners will now pay Rs. 100, while the fee for rickshaws has been fixed at Rs. 300. For cars up to 1000cc, the fee will be Rs. 500, while vehicles up to 1500cc will pay Rs. 800.
Cars up to 2500cc will be charged Rs. 1,000, and those up to 4500cc will pay Rs. 1,500. For vehicles exceeding 4500cc capacity, the emission testing fee has been set at Rs. 2,000.
The department clarified that all payments must be deposited directly into the EPA account at the time of testing.
Such a waste since it didn’t change anything. High emissions vehicles were cleared.
Not to mention new cars don’t emit high emissions

Cannot see any testing booths in city any more?
It’s very unfair, most of your centers were closed during last two/three months during rainy season. Your service at your centers very poor. Most of times I myself go at service point but was found closed due to unknown reasons. If someone time I try to wait in line that was very much time consuming process but at end time is over. It is unfortunate there was no service of drinking water in so warm season. You have to wait in warm season under sun rays on roads. Is it fair?

All policies are made by CSPs, cream of intellectual of Pakistan but never ponder on such issues. How come an old and new vehicle engine condition in same.At least 5 years old private vehicles should be exempted.

It’s just a method of collection of money from people’s. No one’s care of our health.
What about roads conditions. Roads are not at level. Vehicle can not run smoothly on these broken roads. Without completion of criteria imposing huge penalties will make people’s life hard. Why not cheep public transport system available to every citizen then people will automatically avoid their own vehicle.
Emissions testing should be for commercial vehicle only especially rickshaw and diesel engine based trucks and buses.
