The first Supermoon of 2025 will be visible on October 7, offering a striking celestial display for sky watchers in Pakistan and across the world.
A Supermoon occurs when the full moon coincides with the point in its orbit where it comes closest to Earth. This makes the moon appear larger and brighter than usual.
On October 7, the moon will be about 224,599 miles from Earth, making it look nearly 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter compared to an average full moon. This will be the closest Supermoon since November 2024, marking it as one of the year’s most notable astronomical events.
The October Supermoon is the first of three scheduled for 2025. Two more will follow on November 5 and December 5. Although another Supermoon will occur in January 2026, it will fall outside the 2025 calendar year.
Astronomers note that typically three to four Supermoons occur annually. The November 2025 event is expected to be the brightest of the year, when the moon comes within 221,817 miles of Earth.
What makes Supermoons particularly memorable is not only their enhanced size and luminosity but also the striking visual experience they provide, especially when rising near the horizon.
