The Japanese government has brought good news for Pakistanis aspiring to work in Japan, announcing a new opportunity under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program — but with one key requirement: passing a mandatory basic language test.
According to details, relations between Pakistan and Japan continue to strengthen, and Tokyo has now introduced another positive initiative for Pakistani citizens seeking employment in Japan.
The Japan Foundation has launched the Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic) in Pakistan for individuals interested in applying for Japanese work visas. The test aims to assess applicants’ fundamental communication skills in the Japanese language.

Officials confirmed that the test will be conducted in Islamabad on October 4, October 11, November 1, and November 8, 2025, at the Skans School of Accountancy, F-8 Markaz.
The administration stated that the test will accommodate a maximum of 500 candidates. Passing this test is a mandatory requirement for those who wish to apply under Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker Program, which allows foreign nationals to work and live in Japan.
Experts believe this initiative will open new doors for Pakistani youth, helping them secure better employment opportunities in Japan and paving the way for stronger economic cooperation between the two countries.
