Interior Minister Orders Completion of Parliament Lodges New Block in 4 Months

The long-delayed construction of a new block at Parliament Lodges has been revived after 13 years, following directives from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who has ordered the project to be expedited.

On Friday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry visited the construction site to review ongoing work. During the inspection, the interior minister directed that the project must be completed within four months.

Naqvi confirmed that funding for the project has been approved, and it will now be completed on a priority basis. Once finished, the new block will help accommodate all parliamentarians with proper residential facilities.

During a briefing, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa informed the ministers that the project was initially contracted in 2012 and was expected to be completed by 2013. However, due to the contractor halting work and subsequent legal complications, progress was stalled. The project was later granted an extension until 2014, but construction never resumed until now.

The new block will consist of 104 residential units, providing additional accommodation for lawmakers.

Also present during the visit were Federal Secretary for Interior Khurram Agha, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, and other senior officials.
