Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of its flight operations to Muscat from Lahore and Islamabad later this month.
The national carrier will restart the Lahore–Muscat route on October 28, followed by the Islamabad–Muscat service on October 30, 2025.
An Airbus A320 aircraft will be used for both routes, with one weekly flight planned between Lahore and Muscat. The move aims to strengthen air connectivity between Pakistan and Oman, catering to a large number of expatriates and business travelers.
This development follows PIA’s recent decision to relaunch its Islamabad–Manchester route on October 25, marking the airline’s first phase of expanded international operations. Flights to London are also set to resume in the second phase of the plan.
A PIA spokesperson said the airline is eager to restore its global network after several years of limited operations. “Our compatriots will now reach their destinations in nearly half the time compared to before. After a five-year gap, we’re thrilled to reconnect these important routes,” the spokesperson said.

PIA and other foreign airlines are flying from lahore and Islamabad to other destinations. It seems karachi has been totally forgotten.
No worries,we have other top airlines like Emirates. Etihad Qatar Saudia, Thai, Srilanka and many others serving Karachi with better service and hundreds of destinations. We don’t miss PIA, it’s the nationalistic feeling that makes the inner self uncomfortable .
Best of luck PIA.
We still wish you progress and prosperity.
We remember a ‘golden era,’ Mr. Kalim, when Karachi’s airport was the preferred gateway for the world. It’s a tragedy that either malicious factors or unfair bias led to its downfall
