Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF)-backed airline, Riyadh Air, has confirmed that it will launch daily flights to London Heathrow (LHR) starting October 26, 2025, officially marking the debut of the Kingdom’s new national carrier.
The airline had earlier faced delays due to aircraft delivery setbacks, but it will now begin limited operations using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, named “Jamila.” These inaugural flights will be operated as part of Riyadh Air’s commitment to commence service in October 2025 while awaiting the arrival of its new fleet.
Initially, flights will only carry a select group of passengers, including Riyadh Air employees and founding members, under the airline’s “Pathway to Perfect” program — a trial phase designed to test and refine operations before a full commercial rollout.

“These carefully planned flights are crucial for ensuring operational excellence and readiness ahead of our fleet deliveries,” the airline stated, adding that the use of its newly awarded slot at London Heathrow aligns with its strategic launch plan.
Upcoming Routes and Vision
Following London, Dubai will be added as Riyadh Air’s next destination, with additional routes set to be unveiled for winter 2025 and summer 2026.
“This is more than just a launch — it’s the realization of a vision to connect Saudi Arabia with the world,” said Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air. “Our flight program with Jamila allows us to perfect every operational detail and deliver a world-class travel experience.”
Douglas added that the airline is “close to full operations,” with new destinations to be revealed once aircraft deliveries are finalized.
Riyadh Air currently has a fleet order of 72 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, 60 Airbus A321neo, and 25 Airbus A350-1000s, with options for 25 more A350-1000s — potentially bringing its total fleet to 182 aircraft.
Sfeer: Riyadh Air’s Loyalty Program
The airline also introduced its loyalty program, Sfeer — meaning “Ambassador” in Arabic and inspired by the English word “sphere.”
Sfeer aims to create a digital, community-driven loyalty ecosystem offering exclusive rewards, shared benefits, and gamified experiences. Early members, known as “The Founders,” will enjoy priority bookings and other privileges as the program evolves.
“With Sfeer, we’re building more than a loyalty program — we’re creating a connected lifestyle experience,” Douglas said. “It’s about rewarding engagement, fostering community, and celebrating Saudi innovation.”
The program will feature no points expiry, ensuring all rewards remain valid, and will include interactive challenges and leaderboards once fully activated in 2026.
Flight Schedule:
- Riyadh to London (RX401): Departs 3:15 AM, arrives 7:30 AM
- London to Riyadh (RX402): Departs 9:30 AM
Riyadh Air’s debut marks a significant milestone in Saudi Vision 2030, positioning the Kingdom as a global aviation hub while setting new standards in passenger experience and innovation.

This will be good for competition, better service and hopefully cheaper fares
