3G and 4G Services Suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi Indefinitely

The federal government has decided to suspend mobile internet services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following the announcement of a protest march by a religious group.

The Ministry of Interior has issued a directive to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to take the necessary steps to suspend mobile internet services in both twin cities.

According to the official communication, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has approved the decision to suspend mobile internet services. The suspension will take effect from tonight and will remain in place until further notice, depending on the security situation.

The PTA has been instructed to coordinate with the Chief Commissioners and Inspectors General of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to implement the decision. The authority has also been directed to stay in contact with law enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication and security management during the protest.

This move comes in anticipation of a planned march by a religious group toward Islamabad. Containers have already been placed at key points in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and major highways are expected to be closed to control public movement and maintain order.

Security in the Twin Cities has been tightened, and traffic diversions are being planned. Authorities say the decision aims to prevent any potential disturbance or misuse of digital platforms during the protest.
