Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon announced that the e-challan system for traffic violations in Karachi will formally resume on October 27, marking a new phase in the city’s digital traffic management initiative.
Speaking about the development, IG Memon said that the Safe City Program and the Traffic Police Department are jointly working on the technical programming and coordination needed to relaunch the e-ticketing process.
He clarified that the manual challan operations had been temporarily halted on technical grounds, as the 10-year contract with the company providing challan machines and managing fine collections expired on September 30. No new agreement has been signed, he said, since the e-ticketing system under the Safe City project is set to begin within weeks.
Memon added that while some dummy e-challans are being issued for testing purposes, they are not being sent to citizens. “Even if challans are not issued for a few weeks, it makes no significant difference,” he said.
The e-challan system will be launched across Karachi without discrimination following its inauguration by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The IG expressed confidence that the system would lead to a “visible reduction” in traffic violations.
To address grievances, Memon said a complaint committee—comprising an SP, a DSP, and a CPLC representative—will handle citizens’ concerns regarding e-challans.

I would appreciate it if the concerned authorities strictly enforce the requirement of number plates on all vehicles in rural areas.
Correct. But in rural areas where PPP is holding leads. You can observe more unregistered bikes and even cars.
It is also advisable to issue a list of activities and their challan amount also.

Get the road repair first, Karachi has become Mohojodaro ,government of Sind has gone nuts.
Before this E challan process implementation kindly repair roads and install proper traffic signals in main places that we can prevent from accidents and violations.
Majority of motor bikes, Rickshaws, and Suzuki Carries either have no license plates or fake license plates or license plates that are unreadable. These vehicles commonly jump red lights or drive wrong ways….
Keep the fine(penalty)lower and affordable.due to inflation,people are already under pressure.
Lower fines will make it agreeable by public.

Good initiative question arises our roads standard are accordingly as well. Do we see road lining on roads, visible direction boards, sign boards and our traffic signals are working perfectly around the clock. We are striving to launch echallan system but are we really working on upgrading our roads.

Hi good news about servilance system strat in karachi 😀 but frist of all should be edited regarding the 🚗 relues. No body understand lane system, no rules oo over taking . Pick and drop system on bus 🚌 Rikshaw, van, no rules??? .before strat 😇 kindly 🙏 educate proper 🚗 driving rules, lane system, over taking ,change the line,speed so many things to know about 🚗 driving. And also must be repaired the roads 2008 till 2025 no construction 😑 on roads 🙄 . And after urban flooding all karachi road are finished. Must be reconstruction of road then strat this matter 🙄

Are u checking all traffic signal points, are it alive, ur police looting day d night sir, only talking 3 police with one customer. From Tower to Gary Mander no any signals sir. At evening time no signal will be on but police control it on different roads. Every roads are ditches, nno indicate left or right,

Roads are useless and challan is compared to developed countries so we’re in developing countries not in a develop country.
It’s only source of corruption which is being legalized through E- Challan nothing else.

It’s a good initiative, but don’t you think before launching e-challan, the focus should be on implementing a proper Safe City project? People in Karachi deserve safety from crime, road hazards, and daily incidents of snatching and shootings. Citizens should get the basic necessities first before facing another burden like this. It feels like our leaders always find new ways to make life harder for ordinary people.
Before the government starts issuing traffic challans or implementing the e-challan system, it must first ensure that the basic road infrastructure and facilities are properly in place. In Karachi, most roads are broken due to incomplete metro construction work that was left behind because of budget shortages. There are no proper streetlights, road lanes are unclear or faded, and traffic signals at many intersections are non-functional. The government should first fix the roads, restore the traffic lights, mark clear lanes, and ensure proper road signs and signals for the public’s convenience and safety. Only after these basic issues are resolved should the e-challan system be introduced, as it would otherwise be unfair to penalize citizens when the infrastructure itself is in poor condition.
حکومت کو ٹریفک چالان یا ای چالان سسٹم شروع کرنے سے پہلے عوام کے لیے بنیادی سہولیات اور سڑکوں کا نظام بہتر بنانا چاہیے۔ کراچی میں زیادہ تر سڑکیں میٹرو کے نامکمل تعمیراتی کام کی وجہ سے ٹوٹی پھوٹی ہیں جو بجٹ کی کمی کے باعث ادھوری رہ گئی ہیں۔ سڑکوں پر روشنی کا مناسب انتظام نہیں، ٹریفک سگنل زیادہ تر جگہوں پر بند ہیں، اور لین کی نشاندہی بھی واضح نہیں ہے۔ حکومت کو سب سے پہلے سڑکوں کی مرمت، ٹریفک لائٹس کی بحالی، لین مارکنگ، اور مناسب سائن بورڈز لگانے پر توجہ دینی چاہیے تاکہ عوام کو سہولت اور حفاظت میسر ہو۔ جب یہ بنیادی مسائل حل ہو جائیں تو اس کے بعد ہی ای چالان سسٹم شروع کرنا مناسب ہوگا، ورنہ خراب انفراسٹرکچر کی حالت میں عوام پر جرمانہ عائد کرنا ناانصافی ہوگی

Initial information coming that the picture of e-challan is not clear , need to fox this issue
Implementation of e-challan program is not justified at this time as no public opinion is sought, lack of public education, broken, filthy and shattered road where sewage is flowing everwhere does not caught govt or concerned minster’s attention, it appears to be a way of making money like the car number plate program which is now at the back burner as govt has collected enough and exploring other avenues to extract money from common man.
First repair Karachidaro roads first than send e-challan to the citizens.
All citizens of Karachi reject and boycott this system unless roads are fully repaired. Accidents and violation of traffic laws main reason is broken infrastructure.
