A Pakistani expatriate has been executed in Saudi Arabia’s Makkah region after being convicted of drug smuggling, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Interior confirmed on Thursday.
According to the ministry’s statement, the court’s verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court, and the death sentence was carried out in Makkah following the completion of all legal procedures.
The ministry said the individual had been found guilty of attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom, a crime punishable by death under Saudi law.
In a separate case, Saudi authorities also executed a local citizen in Dammam for involvement in terrorist activities. The ministry said the convict was found guilty of attacking security personnel, kidnapping and killing a judge, and attempting to sabotage oil pipelines. He was also involved in manufacturing explosive materials.
