Pakistani Scientist Elected Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences

Renowned Pakistani scientist Professor Dr. Samar Yousaf has been elected as a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) — an international body dedicated to advancing science in developing nations, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel.

Her fellowship will officially take effect on January 1, 2026. The prestigious recognition is awarded to scientists who have made outstanding contributions to scientific advancement in the developing world.

Dr. Samar Yousaf currently serves as a Professor at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, and is also a COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar. She has an exceptional academic record with over 260 research publications, more than 3,900 citations, and an h-index of 32. Her selection as a TWAS Fellow acknowledges her remarkable achievements in chemistry, her excellence in scientific research, and her dedication to fostering innovation in developing countries.

Prof. Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH and TWAS Vice President for South and Central Asia, congratulated Dr. Samar Yousaf on this accomplishment, describing it as a moment of pride for Pakistan’s scientific community and the wider OIC region.
