Sindh Announces Public Holiday

The Sindh government has declared Monday, October 20, 2025, as a public holiday for the Hindu community across the province on the occasion of Diwali.

According to an official notification issued by the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department (SGA&CD) on Thursday, the holiday will apply to all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government.

The notification, signed by Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, clarified that the holiday is “for the Hindu community only,” allowing members of the community employed in provincial departments and affiliated institutions to observe the religious festival.

Copies of the notification have been forwarded to senior government officials, including the Accountant General Sindh, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretaries, Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners across the province for implementation.

The move aligns with Sindh’s longstanding policy of recognizing and facilitating the observance of religious and cultural events celebrated by minority communities.
