Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has departed for the United States to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, where he will represent Pakistan at multiple high-level forums and bilateral engagements.
According to the Finance Ministry, the minister’s visit includes participation in over 65 events, meetings, and forums over six days — a schedule that underscores Pakistan’s active engagement with global financial and investment institutions.
Aurangzeb will represent Pakistan at the plenary sessions of both the IMF and World Bank and hold bilateral meetings with senior officials from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
A key highlight of the trip will be his in-person meeting with World Bank President Ajay Banga, followed by a special dinner hosted by Banga for finance ministers from select countries.
The finance minister is also scheduled to meet IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva during the G24 and MENAP (Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) sessions. He will deliver a keynote address at the MENAP forum, highlighting Pakistan’s reform agenda and regional economic priorities.
Aurangzeb will participate in a regional roundtable on FBR’s digital transformation, organized by the World Bank. Senior officials from other tax authorities will also present their reform experiences.
He will take part in two major World Economic Forum (WEF) events, discussing Pakistan’s macroeconomic outlook, fiscal reforms, and investment opportunities.
During the visit, Aurangzeb will also meet finance ministers from China, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan, focusing on expanding bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
The minister’s U.S. itinerary also includes meetings at the White House, the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Treasury Department, along with discussions at the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
He will hold a separate meeting with the Chairman of the U.S. Congress Financial Services Committee to discuss financial cooperation and regulatory developments.
Aurangzeb is also set to meet officials from the U.S.–Pakistan Business Council, where discussions will center on tax proposals and new investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The finance minister will engage with global credit rating agencies, major commercial banks, and particularly Middle Eastern investment banks, to highlight Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic fundamentals and reform progress.
He will address various investment forums and seminars, outlining Pakistan’s economic recovery and the government’s structural reform agenda.
During his Washington stay, Aurangzeb will visit leading U.S. think tanks, including the Atlantic Council and the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), to discuss Pakistan’s economic policy direction.
As part of his outreach efforts, the minister will meet prominent members of the Pakistani community in the United States and give interviews to select international and U.S. media outlets.
The Finance Ministry said Aurangzeb’s intensive U.S. schedule — featuring over 65 engagements in six days — reflects Pakistan’s commitment to advancing economic diplomacy, securing investor confidence, and strengthening partnerships with key global financial institutions.
