A shocking case of police misconduct has surfaced in Karachi, where the Gulberg police arrested one of their own officers for allegedly stealing motorcycles in the city. The suspect, identified as Waryam Khan, was posted at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station at the time of his arrest.
According to police officials, the arrest came after CCTV footage from two separate incidents registered at the Yousuf Plaza police station showed Khan transporting stolen motorcycles. The footage was reviewed by investigators who confirmed his identity, leading to his detention.
During the arrest, police recovered a stolen motorcycle and illegal weapons from Khan’s possession. Authorities said the footage linked him directly to at least two theft incidents, but investigations suggest he may be involved in several other cases across the city.
Officials also disclosed that Khan was previously arrested in an illegal arms case but managed to regain his posting after release.
Police have launched a comprehensive inquiry into the case to determine whether the suspect was acting alone or part of a wider motorcycle theft network operating in Karachi.
