The 2025 Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) First Annual Examination results from the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore reveal a clear performance gap between male and female students. Across every academic stream, both regular and private, female candidates outperformed their male counterparts, continuing a consistent trend that has been observed in previous years.

- Boys: 80,099 appeared, 47,799 passed – 59.68%
- Girls: 87,298 appeared, 61,185 passed – 70.08%
- Combined: 167,397 appeared, 108,984 passed – 65.09%
Regular Candidates Performance
Humanities Group
- Male: 56,190 appeared, 23,512 passed – 41.84%
- Female: 57,137 appeared, 22,152 passed – 38.78%
Pre-Medical Group
- Male: 20,649 appeared, 5,210 passed – 25.22%
- Female: 21,213 appeared, 16,984 passed – 80.09%
Pre-Engineering Group
- Male: 17,298 appeared, 6,338 passed – 36.65%
- Female: 19,383 appeared, 13,646 passed – 70.40%
General Science Group
- Male: 24,833 appeared, 14,708 passed – 59.26%
- Female: 30,022 appeared, 19,636 passed – 65.43%
Commerce Group
- Male: 8,368 appeared, 5,590 passed – 66.82%
- Female: 7,562 appeared, 5,489 passed – 72.60%
Gender Gap in Academic Performance
Female students outperformed male students in nearly every group, particularly in commerce among private candidates, where girls had a success rate almost 10 percentage points higher. In science groups, female candidates also showed stronger performance, especially in pre-medical and pre-engineering.
