The 2025 Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC-I) First Annual Examination results from the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Sargodha reveal a clear performance gap between male and female students. Across every academic stream, both regular and private, female candidates outperformed their male counterparts, continuing a consistent trend from previous years.
Overall Pass Percentage
According to the official data:
- Boys (All Groups Combined): 23,995 appeared, 11,038 passed – 46.00%
- Girls (All Groups Combined): 30,836 appeared, 20,240 passed – 65.64%
- Combined Total: 54,831 appeared, 31,278 passed – 57.04%
The numbers highlight a 19.6% performance gap between male and female students in the overall pass percentage.
Regular Candidates Performance
Humanities Group
- Male: 12,155 appeared, 3,841 passed – 31.60%
- Female: 15,707 appeared, 9,251 passed – 58.90%
Pre-Medical Group
- Male: 3,009 appeared, 1,994 passed – 66.27%
- Female: 8,087 appeared, 5,954 passed – 73.62%
Pre-Engineering Group
- Male: 1,284 appeared, 934 passed – 72.74%
- Female: 776 appeared, 633 passed – 81.57%
General Science Group
- Male: 7,300 appeared, 4,146 passed – 56.79%
- Female: 6,148 appeared, 4,305 passed – 70.02%
Commerce Group
- Male: 247 appeared, 123 passed – 49.80%
- Female: 118 appeared, 97 passed – 82.20%
Private Candidates Performance
Humanities Group
- Male: 1,248 appeared, 338 passed – 27.08%
- Female: 2,149 appeared, 1,151 passed – 53.56%
Commerce Group
- Male: 7 appeared, 3 passed – 42.86%
- Female: 5 appeared, 1 passed – 20.00%
Gender Gap in Academic Performance
Female students outperformed male students in every group, with a particularly wide gap in humanities and commerce among private candidates. Female candidates in science groups also achieved significantly higher success rates, especially in pre-medical and general science fields.
