Rickshaw Driver Arrested for Playing Naseebo Lal Songs on Loud Speaker

It seems like listening to Naseebo Lal in public is now a crime, as a man in Okara has been arrested for blasting the Punjabi songstress’s music at high volume.

According to reports, the incident occurred when a rickshaw driver was listening to a song by Naseebo Lal at full volume while driving. Following complaints from passersby, a traffic warden stopped him and took action over the noise violation.

Officials said a case has been registered under the Punjab Sound System Act, and an investigation is underway. They added that any breach of the law related to public noise would not be tolerated.

The Punjab Sound System Act was introduced to regulate excessive noise in public spaces and preserve public peace. It allows for fines and legal action against those who create disturbances. Authorities noted that such measures are crucial in densely populated cities where heavy traffic and crowding make noise control essential for public safety.

Naseebo Lal is one of the most popular Punjabi folk and playback singers of her generation. She often gets a bad rep for crass lyrics and raunchy songs for old Lollywood films and stage shows across Pakistan.

Over time, she broke into the mainstream music with hits like “Tu Jhoom” on Coke Studio and the Pakistan Super League anthem “Groove Mera.”
