The Pakistani passport has dropped in global standing but still offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 30 destinations worldwide, according to the latest Henley Passport Index released earlier this week.
Pakistan now ranks 103rd, tied with Yemen, marking a decline from its previous 96th position, when citizens enjoyed visa-free entry to 32 countries. Despite the fall, Pakistani passport holders can still travel to a range of destinations across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Islands without requiring a pre-approved visa.
According to the index, visa-on-arrival facilities are available for Pakistani travellers in countries such as Qatar, Maldives, Nepal, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Burundi, Cape Verde, Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Mozambique, Niue, Palau Islands, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Tuvalu.
Other destinations open to Pakistani nationals include Dominica, Haiti, Montserrat, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and several island nations in the Pacific.
Below is a breakdown of the countries accessible through visa-free entry, visa on arrival, or Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA):
| Type | Countries |
|---|---|
| Visa-Free | Barbados, Dominica, Haiti, Micronesia, Montserrat, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Rwanda |
| Visa on Arrival | Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde Islands, Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, Nepal, Niue, Palau Islands, Qatar, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Timor-Leste, Tuvalu |
| ETA | Kenya, Seychelles, Sri Lanka |
The Henley Passport Index, which ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without a visa, is widely regarded as a key indicator of global travel freedom and diplomatic reach.
