LUMHS Student Found Dead in Hostel Room

A fourth year medical student at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) was found dead in his hostel room on Sunday, police said.

DSP Kotri said initial inquiries indicate the case appears to be a suicide, but investigators are carrying out further examinations to determine the exact cause of death.

In Peshawar, police said they recovered the body of another student from a private hostel and have registered a case. Officers told reporters they launched an investigation to establish how the student died and to collect evidence from the scene.

Officials noted the two incidents come amid a spate of student deaths across the country.

Authorities recently reported that an 18-year-old in Lahore’s Sundar area took his own life after struggling with an examination he found difficult; police said the teen hung himself at home.
