The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has dismissed reports suggesting a province-wide ban on the sale of already-slaughtered chicken, terming the claims “false, baseless, and misleading.”
In its official statement, the PFA clarified that it has not issued any directive or notification restricting the sale of chicken meat that has been properly slaughtered and processed. The clarification came after unverified news circulated on social media, alleging that shopkeepers were instructed to slaughter chickens in front of customers instead of selling prepared meat.
The authority emphasized that its primary focus is on ensuring food safety and maintaining quality standards across Punjab rather than placing unnecessary restrictions on poultry businesses.
Officials also urged citizens to refrain from spreading unverified claims and to rely only on information released through official government platforms. The PFA reiterated that all food vendors must strictly follow hygiene protocols to maintain the supply of safe and healthy poultry meat throughout the province.
For verified updates or food safety complaints, citizens are advised to contact the Punjab Food Authority helpline at 1223 or visit the department’s official website and social media channels for real-time information.
