Karachi Hotels Caught Serving Dead Chicken to Citizens

Police have uncovered a major food safety scandal in Karachi, where hotels and restaurants were allegedly serving dead chickens to customers. Two suspects were arrested during a raid near the Railway Crossing in Mosa Colony, accused of supplying rotten poultry meat to eateries across the city.

According to Gulberg police, the suspects, identified as Anwar and Kamal, had been purchasing chickens that died during transport and selling them to food centers in F.B. Area, New Karachi, and several other localities. During the raid, authorities seized around 80 kilograms of dead chickens from the duo.

Police officials said the men had been running the illegal business for years, profiting by selling unfit meat to small hotels and restaurants at cheap rates. The recovered chicken meat was immediately destroyed to prevent it from entering the food supply chain.

The Sindh Food Authority has launched a parallel investigation to trace the eateries that purchased meat from the accused. Police have filed a case at Gulberg Police Station under food safety and criminal laws.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious about where they eat, warning that such practices pose serious health risks, including food poisoning and bacterial infections.

Meanwhile, in a similar operation in Sargodha, the Punjab Food Authority confiscated 1,200 kilograms of unhygienic meat that was being transported to supply local hotels and restaurants. Officials said the tainted meat was destroyed on-site, and legal action was taken against those involved.
