The government has decided to launch a major crackdown against fake spiritual healers and those exploiting people through amulets and sorcery.
According to details, amendments have been made to Section 297-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), introducing strict penalties for individuals involved in witchcraft or promoting it.
Under the new law, anyone found guilty of practicing or advertising black magic can face up to seven years in prison, along with a fine of Rs. 1 million.
Following the amendment’s implementation, fake spiritual healers will also be required to remove their signboards and close down their shops.
Sources revealed that citizens have already started filing complaints in session courts against such fraudulent individuals, while legal experts have welcomed the move, calling it an important step toward protecting the public from deception and exploitation.
