Briefing attendees, Dr Shahid Munir said the gun is designed to suppress dust at major construction sites and other high-pollution zones — a key contributor to smog in Lahore and other cities. “This modern suppression system will help cut particulate matter in the air,” he said.

Declaring the prototype a “significant achievement,” Marriyum Aurangzeb said the Punjab government plans to use the machine as part of its anti-smog strategy. “Smog control remains among the government’s top priorities,” she said.

Higher Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat announced that the government will extend full financial support to UET for further development and deployment of the technology.
