Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, held a meeting with President of Aga Khan University, Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin, and Chairman of the Aga Khan Board of Trustees, Zakir Mahmood, to discuss the establishment of a state-of-the-art teaching and tertiary care hospital in Islamabad.
The discussions centered on collaboration between CDA and Aga Khan University to bring advanced healthcare and medical education facilities to the federal capital. During the meeting held at CDA Headquarters, the chairman assured the Aga Khan University leadership of the authority’s full support for the establishment of the teaching and tertiary care hospital in Islamabad.
He said that the CDA would facilitate the project through necessary planning and infrastructure support, including the allocation of suitable land for the development of the facility.
The President of Aga Khan University expressed the institution’s strong commitment to promoting high-quality medical education and healthcare services in the country. He stated that the proposed hospital would not only provide modern healthcare but also serve as a center for medical teaching, training, and research in line with international standards.
It was agreed during the meeting to explore different options for identifying a prime and easily accessible location for the hospital in Islamabad. Both sides noted that the establishment of an Aga Khan University Teaching and Tertiary Care Hospital would serve as a significant step toward strengthening the city’s healthcare and education infrastructure.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said the Aga Khan University Teaching and Tertiary Care Hospital project would mark a milestone in Islamabad’s health and medical education sector.
He added that the facility would provide top-quality healthcare services to residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and the wider regions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reflecting CDA’s commitment to improving public health facilities in the federal capital.
