The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) carried out a major operation in Karachi’s eastern district, seizing 1,500 rotten eggs and over 10,000 unsafe bakery items from local manufacturing units.
According to an SFA spokesperson, raids were conducted at several bakery units in District East, where expired and spoiled eggs were being used to prepare bakery products.
During the inspection, officials found severe violations of food safety laws and immediately sealed two bakery manufacturing units for using unhygienic ingredients.
Director General of Sindh Food Authority stated that the department would not compromise on food quality and safety standards under any circumstances.
The spokesperson added that the use of expired ingredients poses a serious threat to public health, and strict action will continue against businesses involved in such practices.
The SFA has urged citizens to report any suspicious or unhygienic food production activities to ensure safe and healthy food standards across Karachi.
