The Punjab government has approved a new industrial survey and the launch of the “Maryam Nawaz Free Parwaz Card” initiative to support skilled youth and promote employment opportunities.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, which reviewed the performance of the Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department.
During the briefing, it was revealed that under the Hunarmand Program, over 180,000 young people have completed training within the last few months. Among them, more than 75,000 skilled graduates have secured employment locally, while around 15,000 individuals have obtained jobs in international markets.
Additionally, over 27,500 trainees from TEVTA institutes and 45,000 graduates from the Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) have successfully found employment.
Officials further informed the chief minister that technical training enrollment in Punjab has increased by more than 21% compared to the previous five years.
To further strengthen industrial growth, the provincial government has decided to conduct a fresh survey of Punjab’s industrial sector to identify skill gaps and emerging economic opportunities.
The meeting also approved the introduction of the Maryam Nawaz Free Parwaz Card, designed to facilitate skilled youth seeking overseas employment and career advancement opportunities.
In addition, under the “Main Digital” initiative, the government has allocated Rs. 1 billion to train 3,000 rural women in information technology. The first phase of this program will begin in Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lodhran, and Faisalabad, with a target of training more than 2,100 women by April 1, 2026.
