Shopkeeper Arrested for Playing Noor Jehan’s Songs on Loud Speakers

Police in Phool Nagar have detained a shopkeeper for playing a classic Noor Jehan song at an excessively loud volume.

According to reports, officers from the Sadar Pattoki Police Station were informed that a shopkeeper in a local market was blasting Madam Noor Jehan’s famous track “Weikh We Din Charrheya Ke Nahin”, disturbing nearby residents and passersby.

Responding promptly, the police arrived at the scene, arrested the man, and registered a case against him under the Punjab Sound System (Regulation) Act, 2015.

This isn’t the first such incident this month — earlier, a rickshaw driver was also booked for playing a song by well-known Pakistani singer Naseebo Lal at high volume.

An Okara police spokesperson emphasized that no one would be allowed to breach the law, warning that strict action will be taken against all violators.

About the Punjab Sound System Act

The Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Act, 2015, was introduced to curb noise pollution and prevent public disturbance. The law regulates the use of loudspeakers, music systems, and other sound equipment to maintain public order and decency. Violators can face fines or imprisonment for non-compliance.
