35,000 Kites and 1,700 Strings Seized in Lahore

Lahore police have seized 35,726 kites and 1,791 spools of metal string during a citywide crackdown on kite flying this year, according to a spokesman.

Officers also arrested 1,681 people and registered 1,647 cases against them.

During the raids, police impounded hundreds of kites and all the metal spools from those arrested. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said authorities will enforce the Anti-Kite-Flying Act strictly.

Kamyana emphasized that loss of life from kite flying is unacceptable. He warned that anyone involved in making, selling, or using dangerous materials like metal strings and kites will face severe punishment.

He also directed that both field and supervisory officers will be held responsible if injuries occur due to metal strings. The CCPO urged citizens to act responsibly and report any kite flying to the police helpline 15 to help keep the city safe.
