Kite String Kills Young Man as Punjab Govt Plans Basant Revival

A 21-year-old man from Lahore’s Mazang area lost his life after a stray kite string slit his throat.

According to police reports, the victim, identified as Noman Yousaf, was returning home from work when the deadly kite string got entangled around his neck. The sharp cord caused severe injuries, and despite being rushed to the hospital, Noman succumbed to his wounds on the way.

Noman’s body was brought home, where scenes of grief and mourning filled the air. His family members were inconsolable. Police said that Noman worked as a medical sales representative and was the eldest and sole breadwinner of his family, which includes his parents, a younger brother, and two sisters.

Police sources revealed that kite flying continued late into the night in several areas, including Mazang, Ichhra, Nawan Kot, Samanabad, Canal Road, Sodhiwal, and Ferozepur Road, despite a government ban.

Authorities have vowed to take strict action against those violating the ban on kite flying, which continues to claim innocent lives across the city.
