Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday inaugurated the Faceless E-Ticketing System, calling it a major step toward a transparent and efficient traffic management system that will enhance safety and public trust.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Karachi, the chief minister said the modern e-ticketing system would eliminate human interference and favoritism in traffic enforcement. “Traffic violations will now be detected automatically through advanced cameras,” he said.
Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the initiative promotes justice, transparency, and accountability. He noted that amendments to the 1965 Motor Vehicle Ordinance were a crucial legislative reform aimed at protecting public interest.
The system has been initially launched with 200 cameras, which will later be expanded to 2,000 across Sindh. Traffic management centers will also be established to guide citizens, allowing them to verify e-tickets or file appeals.
The chief minister said the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has been involved in the review process to ensure better accountability. “We are proudly initiating this journey of change from Karachi,” he added.
Explaining the system, Shah said that a Rs. 20,000 challan will be issued for violations. The first offense will result in a warning, requiring the violator to acknowledge the mistake within ten days. Repeat offenders must pay fines for both violations.
He added that traffic officials will receive 15 percent of challan revenue, but those issuing false challans will face a 30 percent penalty.
