Punjab Govt Bans Unplanned Urban Development Across Province

The government has announced a complete ban on unplanned urban development that violates district master plans.

During a recent meeting at the Housing Department, officials decided that all future approvals for private housing societies will strictly follow district master plans.

According to a departmental spokesperson, it is the duty of the concerned authorities to carry out thorough scrutiny before approving any new housing scheme. He warned that ignoring master plans leads to the destruction of green spaces and uncontrolled urban sprawl.

The spokesperson added that comprehensive measures are being taken to regulate private housing societies across the province. He said enforcing these new rules will help preserve green zones, cut down smog, and reduce environmental pollution.

“The safety of people’s lives and property, along with environmental improvement, remains the government’s top priority,” he emphasized.

Contract Terminated at Lahore Railway Station

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has scrapped a 25-year-old contract for coolie, luggage, and parcel handling services at the Lahore Railway Station. The station manager will now oversee these operations directly.

With the contract’s termination, railway porters will no longer have to pay commissions to contractors, marking a major relief for workers.
