Federal Grand Jury Indicts Abdullah Anwar

A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas indicted Anwar on several charges.

These include conspiracy to transport stolen property, mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.

Prosecutors allege that the wider criminal network caused more than $1 billion in financial losses over a five-year period.

The authorities have not yet announced a trial date.

FBI Calls Extradition Part of Historic Run

FBI Director Kash Patel said Anwar’s extradition marked the bureau’s 23rd foreign transfer of custody within a single month.

Patel described the figure as a historic achievement for the agency.

“He is on the run no longer,” the FBI director said.

Qatar Confirms Coordination With FBI and INTERPOL

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior also confirmed the operation.

The ministry said authorities carried out the arrest and transfer in coordination with Qatar’s Internal Security Force, known as Lekhwiya, and the FBI.

The operation took place through INTERPOL channels.

Qatari officials said the case highlighted Doha’s role as a trusted international partner in the fight against transnational crime.

They added that Qatar would continue supporting global justice systems and law enforcement cooperation.
