The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has fixed the price of the AMI single-phase smart meter at Rs. 14,786, excluding General Sales Tax (GST), which will be charged separately.
According to company officials, the Material Management Department has sent a formal letter to the Director of Customer Services before issuing the purchase order. The letter informed relevant departments about the approved smart meter price.
The notification further stated that cable charges will be collected according to the price list issued by the Regional Store Manager’s office. Officials added that with the price revision, the amount of the demand notice for consumers seeking new single-phase smart meter installations is also expected to increase.
Sources revealed that consumers may now need to deposit nearly Rs. 20,000 in total for the installation of a single-phase smart meter after including taxes and additional costs.
Currently, LESCO has outsourced the procurement process for single-phase smart meters to external suppliers.
