The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has decided to seize all vehicles without valid green stickers starting November 15 as part of its anti-pollution campaign across the province.
Director General of EPA Punjab, Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, announced that authorities have made emission testing mandatory for every vehicle in Lahore. He said enforcement teams have already begun action against smoke-emitting and noise-producing vehicles.
Dr. Sheikh warned that officials will impound any vehicle found on the road after November 15 without an Emission Testing System (ETS) certificate or a green sticker. “Only vehicles that meet Punjab’s environmental standards will stay on the roads,” he said.
He explained that the agency has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against polluting vehicles and will take legal action against owners of unverified or non-compliant cars. “We have started the strictest campaign against air pollution from Lahore,” Dr. Sheikh stated.

Modern vehicles don’t have high emissions. Old vehicles rely on them.
Smog is from heavy vehicles and high emission vehicles with v8 engines or diesel engines. Rickshaws , bikes and old vehicles

Though I have green sticker on my car but it is totally a wrong bureaucratic approach. Reality on ground is that one has to wait in long queues for hours to get car emission sticker.
Professional approach should be that any vehicle not passed the emission test should be fined.
Yes bus, tractor trolleys, vans and trucks should be checked first where as cars and motorcycles exempted from this campaign.
Based on our historical observations, the departments or officers will start first from motorcycles and private cars that are not emitting any smoke but fined because of not having sticker.
Please avoid bureaucratic approach and follow public centric approach.

Moreover this testing facility is availble only on Lahore?

Are we forgetting that trucks , rickshaws, bikes, loader bikes and high emission vehicles have already been excluded from emissions testing by the govt itself ?
Or has he forgotten the fact that new cars have lower emissions due to modern tech ? Cars bought last 5 years do not emit higher levels.
While all high emissions vehicles are exempted from emissions testing . Anyone sending their cars for emissions testing now have to pay fee which is just daylight robbery .

I hope he is not a medical doctor. Our government institutions have such unreasonable approach due to which instead of issues being resolved land in court of law. I had wrote to EPA asking them to focus on bikes, rickshaw and heavy commercial vehicles. As LTV are mostly with efi system which are already quite efficient with negligible pollution.

Around 80% smog is due to vehicular emissions. There is no other way to go than to get people clear vehicle issues.
So why were actual emitting vehicles excluded ? bot boy ?
First prove your claim that only big vehicles cause more pollution and actually how much compared to a car or rickshaw. Also, then you have to analyse number of operating vehicles classified as (say A) cars, rickshaws, bikes and compare with number of big vehicles (say B). If there are 100 A vehicles against 1 B then problem will not be solved.
its a joke. so many departments created and we have to pay for their salaries. No testing center on roads and so long cues. They must provide door to door testing like polio vaccine.
Why I effort to get green sticker months before. Always defaulters get benefits in our country. December is the month of expiring. Give one month more to the defaulters.
