Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon, on Tuesday, announced the launch of a new electric bus route connecting Gulshan-i-Maymar to Tower.
Chairing a meeting of the transport department, Memon confirmed that 15 new electric buses would operate on the route as part of the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts to modernize urban mobility and reduce carbon emissions.
He said that the new service will ease the daily commute for thousands of passengers traveling between Karachi’s northern and central areas. “This initiative reflects the Sindh government’s commitment to sustainable and efficient public transport solutions,” the minister added.
During the meeting, officials also briefed the minister on the completion of the Taj Haider Bridge, a crucial section of the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), which will soon be opened to the public.
Memon said that the government was focused on expanding electric mobility infrastructure across the province, including adding more EV buses and introducing the first-ever electric taxi service by December.
