On the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Lahore Highway Division has fast-tracked patchwork and maintenance of major roads in Raiwind and nearby areas to facilitate participants of the annual Tablighi Ijtima.
Officials briefed the chief minister that 13 projects worth Rs5.68 billion, covering 70 kilometers of roads, have been completed successfully. The Punjab government also saved Rs600 million through transparent tendering.
Authorities said four major connecting roads in Raiwind have been fully repaired. Workers filled potholes, restored shoulder roads, and renewed road markings, giving the area a refreshed look ahead of the event.
They added that patchwork, shoulder dressing, and lane marking on Sundar-Raiwind Road up to Ijtima Chowk are now complete. Mian Ji Abdullah Road and the 2-kilometer Sundar-to-Markaz stretch have undergone full rehabilitation.
The 11-kilometer Pajian Bypass to Bachoki Phatak route has also been repaired with new shoulder roads, while a 2.5-kilometer section of Railway Road has been reconstructed to ensure smooth travel for attendees.
